Public Relation Officer (PRO)

The Public Relation Officer (PRO) is responsible for dissemination of news and information to the media and the public. The duties and responsibilities of the PRO includes:

  • Assisting news personnel at the scene of incidents
  • Assisting the news media on an on-call basis
  • Preparing and distributing news releases
  • Arranging news conferences
  • Coordinating the release of authorized information
  • Publishing of press news release on daily basis

Public Relation Officers (PRO) keep citizens informed about the activities of police department and reduce the distance between media and police. PROs may be spokespersons, or they may serve as advisers to those who appear on camera. Due to its location, Rawalpindi district is very important. 

Model Police Stations (MPS)

  In modern world, peace, security and the sense of security are the components to measure the scale of prosperity in any nation. In order to make the environment of our city safer, Rawalpindi police has taken the initiative to set up a Model Police Station to change the typical police culture. This police station will be different from any other ordinary police station with regard to its performance and shall play an active role to redress the grievances of the people. The building of this police station has been designed with special arrangements for the process of investigation and police operations.  
The environment of police station will be improved through this Model Police Station and there will also be a considerable change in the professional performance of police which will help establish safe and peaceful society. (More Pictures)  

Police Record and Office Management Information System (PROMIS)

PROMIS is a Federal Government funded project, approved in April, 2005 at the cost of 1.4 billion rupees to be implemented country wide.The executing agency was National Police Bureau (NPB).

Hardware for the project was provided in 2008, whereas the first generation software was handed over to the end users in August, 2010.  The hardware and software providing firm is M/s Dialog Broadband (DBB), selected by National Police Bureau, Ministry of Interior Islamabad. The network connectivity with media is through Wi-Max within the district and through Fiber Optic among districts.


The project focuses to fulfill the following objectives:

  • Provide basic IT infrastructure to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Automate police station record including FIRs and office management system (in 4 provinces, AJK, Northern Area Police, Railway Police, FIA Headquarter, National Police Bureau and ICT Police)
  • Provide the required services to various police branches
  • Design MIS to facilitate operational activities of police
  • Offer ERP solutions for police including finance & budgeting, assets & accounts, human resources, vehicle management, pay and procurements etc.
  • Strengthen Police Training Institutes for IT training
  • Provide data sharing facility within police department to enhance their operational capability to fight against serious and organized crimes


The first generation software of FIR, after removing bugs was deployed in August, 2010 in data center of Central Police Office (CPO), Punjab. The following achievements have been made since August, 2010 onwards:

  • Main data center made operational at Central Police Headquarters (CPO) Lahore, with software deployment
  • 53 offices of Central Police Office (CPO), Punjab made operational with hardware & application software of PROMIS
  • Lahore district: 80 police stations was made operational
  • 77 following police stations of 8 other districts provided equipment, connectivity in 2008 and the application software of PROMIS in August, 2010

  • A network of VoIP sets is spread over in the PROMIS deployed PSs, with the help of these VoIP sets free of cost call can be made within the established network of PROMIS
  • Network Monitoring System has been Installed at CPO to monitor the connectivity status of CPO with districts and declared Model Police Stations (MPSs) in Punjab
